Feel instantly at home in the friendly informal atmosphere of Grinkle Lodge where the attention to detail of Tim and Janette ensures that you will not be disappointed by your visit.

The Victorian gothic style stone building is a peaceful Guest House B&B near Whitby, North Yorkshire, situated in the beautiful North York Moors National Park with magnificent views across a wooded valley to the sea beyond. The area offers many interesting walks within a few miles' radius, ranging from the clifftop paths of the Cleveland Way to rugged moorlands and sandy beaches. The heavenly rural setting is the perfect location in which to wind down to a slower more peaceful pace of life, but is also an ideal base from which to explore the surrounding villages and towns.

Grinkle Lodge is licensed, so pre-dinner drinks, wine and liqueurs can be enjoyed without any driving worries afterwards!

The house offers extremely comfortable en-suite accommodation for a maximum of six guests and alongside all the usual amenities can be found thoughtful extra touches that make all the difference including fresh flowers and home-made biscuits in all bedrooms.

The furniture and décor has been carefully chosen to complement the age and character of the property and an eclectic mix of quirky unusual objects collected over the years for their ‘still-life’ potential enliven the surroundings. Blandness does not feature here! The hand painted murals and the original artwork confirm that this is truly the home of an artist.

Facilities include a spacious, interesting sitting room with a good ‘games’ chest and many books of local and general interest where guests can settle down for a quiet read or drink in front of a blazing open fire if the weather is cold.

Outside there is a large peaceful garden to enjoy and share with pheasants, peacocks and occasional wild deer. A huge pond is teeming with wildlife. It is a different world and one very much relished by Tim’s feisty free-range chickens whose job it is to provide the breakfast eggs!

As ex-restaurateurs, the quality and variety of meals provided is of great importance to Tim & Janette. Ingredients are locally sourced wherever possible and purchased daily to ensure maximum freshness.

For everyone’s greater comfort and enjoyment, it is a COMPLETELY NON SMOKING HOUSE. The house is not suitable for children under 12.
